I thought I was doing as much as needed to advertise our home. In fact, we were foolish enough to believe that our house was so wonderful that it would just sell itself. But the very day I listed with Bev, she said something that really struck me. She mentioned all the area realtors to whom she would be emailing our listing, and I instantly thought, "Wow, what a great idea" immediately followed by "there's no way I could have ever made those kinds of contacts." It was at that moment I knew my property was in the right hands. Plus, you just can't beat the exposure the internet provides!
We thought we had a buyer the very first month we had our sign up, but we ran into one stumbling block after another. First came the problem with price negotiations. Had we had a realtor to buffer us, it would have saved a lot of hurt feelings. Then there was the issue of waiting for the buyer to sell their house, and without any commitment in writing or deadlines by which things had to be accomplished, there's no telling how long we would have continued to wait. There's a lot to be said for the anonymity a realtor provides if the negotiations break down, or even if it's just saving you the awkwardness of running into people you've shown the house to and they've never bothered to call you back. At least realtors give you some feedback.
It was such a relief to turn everything over to Bev and know that the responsibility of selling our home wasn't on my shoulders anymore. It was stressful enough having my husband working in another state, having to care for our two young children all alone and trying to keep the house presentable for showings in spite of them, without having to be a realtor too! Even if things had worked out with the first buyer, I wouldn't have known how to handle all the paperwork. Bev's expertise, advice, and professionalism were invaluable throughout the process, and I really appreciated how she kept us posted on how everything was proceeding.
